Downloading a Software Update to an MLC 8000 Device

Prerequisites:

• A previous version of the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool is operational.
• The PC on which the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool is installed is connected to the new MLC 8000 device for which new software is required.

When and where to use:

Procedure:

1. From the main menu of the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool, select Services → Manage Software Update
   The Manage MLC 8000 Software Versions window opens. List of the channel cluster devices is shown with its Active and Standby versions.
2. Search for the required device in the list of Devices and select it by checking the check box next to it.
3. Click Select Version to Download.
   The Browse for Folder window opens.
4. Navigate to the folder that contains the new software version files provided to you by Motorola as part of the new software release. Click OK.
   The new software version is named after the folder in which the files are located, so make sure to name the folder appropriately, indicating somewhere in the name the software release. The version name appears in the Select Version to Download field.
5. Click the Download button.
   The FTP Transfer window appears with information about the file transfer operation. The folder is downloaded to the device. The completion status is shown in the status line above the progress bar and in the status column at the device line. The new device software version appears at the Standby column of the Select Device.
6. Click Close.
   The MLC 8000 Configuration Tool main screen is displayed.
