Prerequisites:
The PC used to reset the MLC 8000 password is connected to the MLC 8000 Analog Comparator or MLC 8000 Subsite Link Converter through the local O&M connection. When and where to use:
Use this procedure to reset the password to the default password in the MLC 8000 Analog Comparator and MLC 8000 Subsite Link Converter when the existing password is unknown.
NoteThe password is reset to the default value by providing up to two inputs, the reset password key (if one was predefined) and the secret key, from the Motorola Solutions Support Center (SSC).
Procedure:
- Establish communication with the MLC 8000. When the PC is connected to the MLC 8000 O&M port, use a terminal emulation program, such as ProComm+ or HyperTerminal.
The MMI window is opened and a prompt Press 1 to reset the password or press 2 to continue is shown.
- Press 1 for option Reset Password.
- Type the reset password key if it was predefined. If not, press Enter.
The reset password key (if entered) is compared to the predefined reset password key. If they match, the system prompts for secret key authentication. If the reset password key does not match the predefined reset password key, an error message prompts you to retry. If the reset password key is forgotten, call SSC for assistance.
- Type the secret key supplied by the Motorola Solutions Support Center SSC.
ImportantCall the Motorola Solutions Support Center (SSC) and provide the values of board ID and random number shown on the window to receive a secret key that you must enter. Also, confirm the default password while on the call with the SSC.A message displays, indicating that the password has been reset to the default. The device restarts and you are taken to the login menu and can log in using the default password.
- Exit the MMI window.
ImportantKeep the current password in a safe location for later retrieval.
