Subject:       HT750 and HT1250 Audio Level Drop in Scan

Symptoms:
The user may experience the following when using a HT750/1250 in the scan mode with or without a remote accessory attached.

The receive audio will be at half of the set level after the following conditions have been met:

  1. The volume control has been set at 1/3 of its rotation or greater
  2. The radio is put into scan mode on a channel which:
    • the Designated Transmit Channel is not a member of the scan list, or,
    • Talkback is disabled
  3. The user has momentarily transmitted over an incoming transmission (with correct PL if necessary) on the Designated Transmit Channel.

When PTT is released on the user-initiated transmission, the radio will unmute to the incoming transmission, but the volume level will be around half of the level selected by the volume control.

The volume will return to the correct level by adjusting the volume control, pressing PTT again, or by the termination of the incoming transmission. To cause the recondition to re-occur, the user must exit and re-enter scan mode.

Serial Numbers:

Cause:
The internal radio firmware (Ver. R02.00.01 and earlier without a remote accessory attached, R03.01.00 with a remote accessory attached), when the above conditions are met, causes the radio volume to be reduced by half.

Corrective Action:
A fully evaluated and tested version of firmware is available. The radio must be re-flashed with the latest version (Version R03.01.03 or later) to repair this issue. This cannot be done in the field and the affected units must be sent into the Radio Support Center for the upgrade. When returning the portable, please reference this SRN.
