Subject: Professional Radio Audio Adapter, Part Number HLN9716A

 

Symptoms:

When using the HLN9716A audio accessory adapter with the Professional Radio, HT750/HT1250 products, the user may experience one or both of the following symptoms.

  1. With the adapter attached to the radio, and with no accessories connected to the adapter, during radio power up sequence, radio alert tones are not clear, causing a chirping sound in the internal radio speaker.
  2. With the accessory adapter and accessories (GP300 speaker microphone, headset, etc.) installed, large voice amplitude applied to the accessory microphone will cause radio to intermittently lose the push to talk function.

Potential Problem Units:

HLN9716A audio accessory adapters with date codes shipped prior to 9910. The date code can be found on the rubber gasket under the adapter by the contact pins. The first two digits are the year the second two the week. Example: 9844, this was assembled the 44th week of 1998.

Cause:

1. Power -up timing problem with audio accessory adapter

2. Transistor bias issue in audio accessory adapter

Corrective Action:

Replace the HLN9716A audio accessory adapter under warranty by contacting the Accessories and After Market Division, AAD at 800-422-4210. When phoning reference this bulletin.
