Subject: HT750/HT1250 VHF (136 -174MHz) Dysfunction with a Fully Charged Battery
Symptoms:
Radio will not power up when the ON/OFF switch is turned from the "OFF" position to the "ON" position. This can occur with a fully charged battery or when the radio and battery are left in the charger.
Potential Problem Radios:
All HT750/HT1250 VHF radios built on date code 9211, 9212, 9213 are potentially defective. The date code is found on the radio information label on the back of the portable.
Models Affected: AAH25KDG9AA2AN, AAH25KDC9AA3AN, AAH25KDG9AA4AN, AAH25KDF9AA5AN, AAH25KDH9AA6AN
Cause:
HT750/HT1250 VHF radios with from the above listed date codes were built with incorrect zener diodes, VR447, VR448, VR449, VR450. The proper diode part number is 4802245J53.
Corrective Action:
HT750/HT1250 VHF radios with date code 9211, 9212 and 9213 may be defective, due to placement of the incorrect zener diode.
To test for this defect, connect a supply voltage of 8.7V to the radio while the ON/OFF switch is in the "off" position. Then switch the ON/OFF switch to "ON" position.
If the radio performs proper power-up sequence, the radio is okay.
If the radio will not perform power-up sequence, the radio should be returned for proper repair.
HT750/HT1250 radios that fail the above test must be sent to the Radio Support Center for repair. Warranty is authorized to the sending Service Facility at $25.00 each. The Radio Support Center address appears below.
