WAVE 3000 Server Operation : Managing Talk Groups : Adding a New Talk Group

Adding a New Talk Group
Identify the Talk Groups (Groups) in Connect Plus that WAVE users can access. From each Talk Group, copy the IDs (required) and Aliases (optional). Recreate the Talk Groups in the WAVE 3000 Server interface, and then add WAVE users to those Talk Groups. You do not need to add radio users to the Talk Groups in WAVE 3000 Server.
If you create a Talk Group without a matching entry in the XRT 9000/9100, then the Talk Group will attempt to register with the XRT and fail repeatedly. Radio users will not hear traffic over the unregistered Talk Group. To successfully create an Talk Group integrated with radios and WAVE users, the Talk Group must exist in the XRT 9000/9100, and you must select the Supports Radios check box in WAVE 3000.
About Broadband-Only Talk Groups
If you create a Talk Group without selecting Supports Radios, then the Talk Group is broadband-only. Broadband-only Talk Groups will not attempt to register with the XRT 9000/9100. Even if the Talk Group exists in the XRT 9000/9100, it will not receive audio traffic from the WAVE 3000 Server.
Radio users will not hear traffic over a broadband-only Talk Group. Broadband-only Talk Groups only appear as a selection to WAVE users. Talk groups are broadband-only by default.
To add a new Talk Group
1.
Sign in to the WAVE 3000 Server, and then click the Talk Group tab.

The Talk Groups page opens.
2.
Click the Add New Talk Group button.

The Talk Groups: Add Talk Group page opens.
3.
In the Name field, enter a name for this Talk Group. This name only appears to WAVE users. Talk Group names for radio units are programmed in the radio system.
4.
In the Description field, optionally enter a description for this Talk Group. The description you enter is for administrative purposes and does not appear on radios or mobile clients.
5.
Select Supports Radio if this Talk Group will include Connect Plus radio users. If you do not select this option, then only broadband clients can communicate using this Talk Group. This selection unlocks the Radio Interface field (below).
6.
In the Radio Interface : Connect Plus section, make the following modifications:
*
In Talk Group ID, enter the ID of a Group existing in the XRT 9000/9100. This field is only available if you have selected Supports Radios. Broadband-only Talk Groups do not require a Subscriber ID.
7.
Click the Save button.
Important:
Clicking Save stores the Talk Group locally, but does not commit the new Talk Group to the system. You must click the commit changes to validate and activate the new configuration. Until activated, the new Talk Group does not appear to WAVE users.
