This document is intended as a guide to selection and preparation of a site and the structure and interfaces required prior to installing the HiperMAX-micro.
See Also 005-8454-024 AS.MAX Base Station Selection Guidelines & Installation Rules document that provides details of criteria normally used to select suitable Base Station sites within an urban WiMAX network. It forms a set of recommendations for site selection plus rules associated with equipment installation.
HiperMAX-micro is a base station, typically with a roof mounted radio system and antennae. It is part of the HiperMAX base station family which forms part of the AS.MAX portfolio of WiMAX systems. Typical rooftop installation SCRT with mounted antenna
A typical HiperMAX-micro Base Station configuration consists of the following components:
1x SDR-micro (including Software Defined Radio, PSUs for SDR + SCRTs plus a GPS receiver [where required])
2x Single Channel RF Transceiver (SCRT) with Antenna attached to SCRT
SDR-micro: 355mm x 430mm x 165mm Weight: 25kg maximum
Base Station SCRT: (excl bracket and Antenna):340mm x 270mm x 140mm Weight: 7.5kg max
Base Station SCRT: Antenna: 650mm x 200mm (226mm inc Bracket) x 100mm Weight: up to 6.2kg max dependant on type
The rooftop should be adequate to support the equipment installation the mounting structures and working personnel.
The SDR base should be at least 300mm above the rooftop to allow access for the cables that attach to the base of the unit and be at a distance from the roof edge and other rooftop structures to allow personnel to easily access the SDR (min suggested clearance 2 metres). Provision should also be made to ensure that safe working practices can be performed by personnel working on the rooftop.
The SDR-micro is mounted on a plate (not provided by Airspan). See 4.1 Physical Mounting: SDR for details of plate. The mounting plate and supporting structure should be robust enough to support the SDR. (consideration should be given to wind loading). Master and slave SDR must be mounted within 1 meter of each other, or extended 10MHz and 1pps cables are needed.
Normally the SCRT should be pole mounted to a 40mm (1.5") pole (not provided by Airspan) usually attached to a short mast typically 1.5-2m high . Where more than one SCRT is to be provided the poles should be at least 1 metre apart. See 4.2 Physical Mounting: SCRT for details of pole bracket provided by Airspan. Cables are available in 3, 10, 15 , 30, and 100 metre lengths to facilitate the placement of the SCRT at the most convenient location.
