Verifying the IP Address Change

Prerequisites:

The MLC 8000 Configuration Tool is operational. See procedure Opening the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool

When and where to use:

After the pre-staging effort to change IP address on one or more new MLC 8000 devices, this procedure is used to verify that the IP addresses were successfully changed.

Procedure:

  1. Change the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway settings for your PC to match the subnet for the IP network switch to be used in the next step.
  2. Connect one end of the cable to EXTERNAL LAN PoE port on the rear of the MLC 8000 and the other end to an enabled, unlocked port on the IP network switch (for example the service port).
NoteFor information about unlocking switch ports in a system with MAC Port Lockdown, see the ASTRO ® 25 system MAC Port Lockdown Feature Guide.
  3. Run the ping command on the MLC 8000s that you provisioned with IP addresses to verify the change.
