Backing Up the MLC 8000 System Configuration
This procedure specifies how to back up the MLC 8000 configuration data for an MLC 8000 system, which is basically all the channel clusters defined on a particular service computer/laptop, to a secure location.
Prerequisites:
- The MLC 8000 Configuration Tool is operational. See procedure Opening the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool.
- Run the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool with administrator privileges (that is, Run as administrator option).
NoteThis procedure is also useful for the case where more than one service computer/laptop is used to configure the MLC 8000 devices. In this case, all the PCs used to configure the MLC 8000 devices must be configured the same. This configuration can be accomplished by backing up the configuration of one MLC 8000 system from one particular service computer/laptop and then ensuring it is restored on each PC that you use.
When and where to use:
- Use this procedure to back up MLC 8000 configuration data so that a backup copy exists in a situation requiring restoration of data (for example, disaster recovery of a particular device).
- Use this procedure to synchronize the database between configuration tools when working with more than one configuration tool.
Procedure:
- From the main menu of the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool, select ImportantWhile the backup process is in progress, a standard windows dialog box message for Copy items might appear. If you click the Cancel button on this message, the backup process stops. The created backup folder is automatically removed, and a message appears indicating that the backup process is aborted. It is not recommended that you click Cancel from Copy items.A message appears indicating that the backup process completed successfully. The MLC 8000 configuration is backed up into the
C:\ProgramData\Motorola\MLC8000 CT\Data\Backup
folder in a folder named with the date of the backup.
.
- Click OK.
