Restoring the MLC 8000 System Configuration

Prerequisites:

NoteThis procedure is useful also for the case where more than one service computer/laptop is used to configure the MLC 8000 devices. In this case, all the PCs used to configure the MLC 8000 devices must be configured the same. This configuration can be accomplished by backing up the configuration of one MLC 8000 system from one particular service computer/laptop and then ensuring it is restored on each PC you use to configure the MLC 8000.

When and where to use:

Use this procedure to restore the MLC 8000 system configuration.
ImportantThe restore operation deletes all existing channel clusters (in: C:\ProgramData\Motorola\MLC8000 CT\Data\System) and replaces them with the data in the folder you select.

Procedure:

  1. From the main menu of the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool, click ServicesRestore.
The Browse for Folder window appears, prompting you to choose a restore folder.
  2. Select the folder of the last restoration or the particular version based on the restoration date that you want to restore and click OK .
A dialog box appears asking if you want to save the existing configuration.
  3. Perform one of the following actions depending on whether you want to save the existing configuration:
NoteWhile the restore process is in progress, standard windows dialog box messages for Copy items or Delete items might appear. If you click Cancel while the restore operation is in progress, most of the existing system data is deleted and the current channel cluster is ruined. A message appears indicating that the restore process is aborted and that the restore operation is needed for recovery. Using Cancel from the dialog box for Copy items or Delete items is not recommended.
