Introduction : WAVE 3000 Server Capacity

WAVE 3000 Server Capacity
The following table specifies WAVE 3000 Server capacity by Radio System.
WAVE 3000 Capacity with the XRT 9000
The WAVE 3000 Server provides the following capacities when used with the XRT 9000:
*
*
*
*
*
Broadband to LMR Calls:
30 maximum calls may be placed between broadband to LMR system. These 30 calls consists of Talk Group and Private Calls. For example a Talk Group Talk Group transmission consumes 1 out of 30 calls. A Private Call at the same time consumes 2 out of 30 calls.
Broadband to Broadband Calls:
WAVE 3000 Systems also allows broadband to broadband Group and Private Calls. A total of 30 active calls may be placed with any combination of Talk Group or Private Calls.
WAVE 3000 Server Capacity with XRT 9100
The WAVE 3000 Server provides the following capacities when used with the XRT 9100:
*
*
*
*
*
Broadband to LMR Calls:
50 maximum calls may be placed between broadband to LMR system. These 50 calls consists of Talk Group and Private Calls. For example a Talk Group consisting of 100 users (each talking 1 at a time) consumes 1 out of 50 calls. At the same time, 1 TG call (with 100 users) and another Private Call at the same time consumes 2 out of 50 calls.
Broadband to Broadband Calls:
WAVE 3000 Systems also allows broadband to broadband Group and Private Calls. A total of 50 active calls may be placed with any combination of Talk Group or Private Calls.
Over Capacity Behavior
When WAVE 3000 Server resources are not available to make a Call, WAVE broadband clients flash red and provide an error tone to indicate they are unable to establish the Call.
Radio units rely on the resources of the radio system and continue to operate as normal. If the WAVE 3000 Server is over capacity, radio users will not receive any indicator that WAVE users cannot hear their transmissions.
Talk Path Limitation
The XRT 9000 provides a maximum of 100 Talk Paths for registering WAVE users and Talk Groups. Actual number of Talk Paths depends on license.
The XRT 9100 provides a maximum of 750 Talk Paths for registering WAVE users and Talk Groups. Actual number of Talk Paths depends on license.
Each WAVE user capable of making Private Calls to radios consumes one Talk Path on the XRT 9000/9100. WAVE users with Private Calls to radios disabled do not consume a Talk Path and do not count against total capacity. If you create a large deployment with many WAVE users, turning off Private Calling to radios for those users who do not require this feature enables you to add more users without taxing the XRT 9000/9100.
Private Calls to Radios can be toggled on or off for each WAVE user.
The following table displays a example for determining the number of Talk Paths on a 200 user WAVE 3000 Server unit connected to a 100 Talk Path XRT 9000 Gateway. This example considers the number of LMR Talk Groups, the number of broadband users enabled for Private Calling, and determines number of XRT Talk Paths required.
Calculation of Talk Paths Required:
XRT Talk Paths Required = Number of LMR Talk Groups + Number of Private Call users.
Using the XRT 9000 capacity table above, a maximum capacity of 30 Talk Paths for Talk Groups are shared between radios and broadband users and 70 broadband users are enabled for Private Calls. In this example, the remaining 400 broadband users can communicate over the Talk Groups connected to the radio system, but can only make broadband-to-broadband Private Calls.
Note:
This Talk Path limitation holds true for any number of WAVE 3000 Server licenses. A 500 user WAVE 3000 Server connects with a 100 Talk Path XRT 9000. The fewer number of Private Call enabled broadband users you create, the more Talk Groups you can create.
For the XRT 9100 the number of available Talk Paths is 750, and the number of Talk Paths shared between radios and broadband users. for BB Private Calls is 50.
Broadband-Only Talk Groups
Broadband-only Talk Groups do not integrate with the radio system, and do not consume a Talk Path on the XRT 9000/9100. Only WAVE communicators can use broadband-only Talk Groups. The Supports Radios selection is available when you create or edit a Talk Group in the WAVE 3000 server. Clearing this field creates a Broadband-only Talk Group.
Broadband-only Talk Groups do not use a Talk Group ID and will not conflict with Talk Groups in the radio system.
Note:
The Supports Radios selection is cleared by default. Select Supports Radios to create Talk Groups for use between WAVE and radio users.
Multi-XRT Deployments
The WAVE 3000 Server and XRT 9000/9100 Gateway are generally deployed in pairs, with one XRT 9000/9100 Gateway, and one WAVE 3000 Server. If you intend to share Talk Paths between the WAVE 3000 Server and another application, then you require two XRT 9000/9100 Gateways to connect the Talk Paths. The following diagram illustrates two XRT 9000/9100 Gateways sharing Talk Paths 1-80 with an application.
Deployments where only the WAVE 3000 Server uses Talk Paths do not require an additional XRT 9000/9100 Gateway. The following diagram illustrates a single XRT 9000/9100 Gateway connected to two applications with only the WAVE 3000 Server using any Talk Paths.
Deployments where the XRT 9000/9100 Talk Paths are split, but not shared, do not require an additional XRT 9000/9100. The following diagram illustrates a single XRT 9000/9100 connected to two applications using a different range of Talk Paths on the XRT 9000/9100.
