Backing Up a Particular MLC 8000 Device Configuration

This procedure specifies how to back up the configuration data for a particular MLC 8000 device to a secure location. This saved configuration data can then be used to configure a similar device or a replacement device.

Prerequisites:

The MLC 8000 Configuration Tool is operational. See procedure Opening the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool.
The channel cluster to which the particular MLC 8000 you want to back up belongs is open. See procedure Opening a Conventional Channel Cluster.

When and where to use:

Use this procedure to back up MLC 8000 configuration data for a particular MLC 8000 device so that a backup copy exists in a situation requiring restoration of data.

Procedure:

From the main screen of the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool, right-click the MLC 8000 device you want to back up and select Configure Device.
If there is a need to do so, change configuration data as required. See the proper configuration procedure for the device type and system type being updated.
Click Save to File
A Save As dialog box appears.
Supply a file name for the saved configuration data and navigate to the folder into which the configuration should be saved. Click Save.
The configuration data is saved into the folder with the filename specified and can later be used to configure a similar or replacement device.
