Management of Login Credentials for MLC 8000 Systems

The MLC 8000 Configuration Tool can be used to configure a single device or to configure the entire channel cluster. When configuring a single device, the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool must establish a connection only with the particular device you are configuring, and you are only required to provide credentials to log in to this particular device. However, configuring a single device is rare, and the MLC 8000 is normally used to configure an entire channel cluster. When the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool is used to configure the entire channel cluster, provide credentials to log in to all devices in the cluster. The MLC 8000 Configuration Tool with Analog Display and Control supports a common password for user access to all MLC 8000 devices in the system. Ensure that all MLC 8000 devices are configured with the same password. For example, in the case you make a password change for a device, the same password must be provisioned for all other devices in the system. If MLC 8000 devices are provisioned with different passwords, it is impossible for you to connect to the devices in the channel cluster until the passwords are made common. This connection problem can also occur if you move a device from one channel cluster with one password to a different channel cluster with a different password or when adding a device to a cluster which has not had the password set to match the device password in the channel cluster. If you have purchased your MLC 8000 device through a dealer channel and you want to configure the device, you are prompted for a login and password. The first time you log in, use the default login that comes with the newly manufactured MLC 8000 device:

In mixed mode systems, GCM 8000 and GRV 8000 comparators may be included in conventional channel clusters, but the login operations provided for the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool do not apply to those comparators.
