Keeping the Channel Cluster Database Consistent on more than one MLC 8000 Configuration Tool PC
This process specifies how to keep the database consistent between PCs when more than one MLC 8000 Configuration Tool on different PCs is used to configure the same channel cluster.
Prerequisites:
The MLC 8000 Configuration Tool is operational. See procedure Opening the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool.
NoteThis process should be followed for the case where a particular channel cluster was configured using the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool on one PC and was later updated using the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool on a different PC. In this case, the database differs for the same channel cluster between PCs and the database on the PC that was last updated must be backed up and then restored on the PC where the database is now out-of-date.
When and where to use:
Use this process to synchronize the channel cluster database between configuration tools when working with more than one configuration tool on different PCs.
NoteConfiguring the same channel cluster using a configuration tool on different PCs is not recommended due to the effort to back up and restore to keep the database consistent between the PCs.
Procedure:
- Back up the data on the PC where the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool was last used to modify data related to the particular channel cluster that has also been configured on another PC. See procedure Backing Up the MLC 8000 System Configuration.
- Restore the data on the PC where the channel cluster data is now out -of-date. See procedure Restoring the MLC 8000 System Configuration.
