Adding a Digital Comparator to a Conventional Channel Cluster
Prerequisites:
- The MLC 8000 Configuration Tool is operational. See procedure Opening the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool.
- The conventional channel cluster to which you want to add the digital comparator is open. See procedure Opening a Conventional Channel Cluster.
When and where to use:
Use this procedure to add a digital comparator to an existing conventional channel cluster.
NoteThis procedure applies to digital-only systems. Whenever a digital comparator is added, associate MLC 8000 Subsite Link Converter (AGU) ports with it. Each device should be added to just one channel cluster. If you have added an MLC 8000 device to a particular channel cluster and later you with to change this configuration, make sure to first remove the device from the first channel cluster and then add it to the desired channel cluster.
Procedure:
- From the main menu of the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool, select The Digital Comparator Configuration window opens.

.
- Enter a comparator name (up to 31 alphanumeric characters) in the Channel Name field.
- Enter the channel number assigned to the voter (1 to 200) in the Channel Number field.
- Select the subsite name of the site at which the digital device is deployed from the Location field drop-down menu.
- Click Save.
The system adds the digital comparator to the channel cluster. It appears under the Channels branch of the channel cluster tree. Refer to Section Configuration Tool Main Screen for more information on how digital GCM 8000s and GRV 8000s are identified in the channel cluster tree.
