Monitoring Audio on MLC 8000 Subsite Link Converter Ports

Prerequisites:

The MLC 8000 Configuration Tool is operational. See procedure Opening the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool.
The channel cluster containing the MLC 8000 Subsite Link Converter (AGU) you wish to monitor is open and the associated channel cluster tree is displayed on the main screen of the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool. See procedure Opening a Conventional Channel Cluster.
The MLC 8000 Subsite Link Converter configuration is complete.

When and where to use:

Use this procedure to monitor audio on MLC 8000 Subsite Link Converter (AGU) ports.

NoteMonitoring audio on MLC 8000 Subsite Link Converter ports captures audio for one MLC 8000 Subsite Link Converter (AGU) at a time. To capture audio from two separate AGUs distributed across two subsites, enable the site router Access Control List (ACL) or use the MLC 8000 Analog Comparator (VGU) audio monitoring function. See procedure Monitoring Audio on MLC 8000 Analog Comparator Ports.

Procedure:

Select the MLC 8000 Subsite Link Converter you want to monitor by clicking it in the channel cluster tree. Click the Audio Monitoring button or right-click the MLC 8000 Analog Comparator selected and then click Audio Monitoring and Calibration.
The BR Audio Monitoring and Calibration window opens.
If the Scope Test Tab data fields are not displayed, click Scope Test so that the related fields and buttons appear.
In the Channel A area, if you want to monitor output audio, check Output To Radio/Console. Or, if you want to monitor input audio, check Input From Radio/Console.
If you want to monitor both input from the radio/console and output to the radio/console, continue with step 5. If not, continue with step 8.

NoteIf you want to monitor both Channel A and Channel B, for the same base radio, Input From Radio/Console can only be selected for Channel A or Channel B and Output To Radio/Console must be selected for the other channel.
In the Channel B area, click On.
The Select BR window opens.
Select the resource you wish to monitor and then click Select.
The Select BR window closes and the MLC 8000 Subsite Link Converter name is displayed above the Select Resource button on the BR Audio Monitoring and Calibration window.
In the Channel B area, if you want to monitor output audio, check Output to Radio/Console or if you want to monitor input audio, check Input From Radio/Console.
Set the duration of the test in seconds using the drop-down menu in the Test Duration field. Select a value from 2 to 10 seconds.
Click Start.
Audio monitoring runs for the specified time in seconds, and the results appear in the window to the right of the Channel A area and if Channel B was monitored as well, to the right of the Channel B area.
To see the results in more detail from a particular time during the audio monitoring, click Zoom In to zoom in on that area and then click Zoom Out to see a larger area of the results. Click Home to return to the full results of the test in the display window.
To save the results for later analysis, click Save Audio Files.
The path to the saved file displays. It saves in a file name similar to: 203-r1@Channel_A_06_Oct_2011_19-38-48.wav where:
- 203–r1 is the resource name
- Channel_A is the channel name
- 06_Oct_2011 is the date
- 19-38-48 is the time stamp
