Removing an MLC 8000 Analog Comparator from the Channel Cluster
Prerequisites:
- The MLC 8000 Configuration Tool is operational. See procedure Opening the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool.
- The channel cluster to which the MLC 8000 Analog Comparator you want to remove belongs is open and the associated channel cluster tree displayed on the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool main screen. See procedure Opening a Conventional Channel Cluster.
ImportantIf the MLC 8000 Comparator you are removing from the channel cluster has associated base radios, remove the association between the base radios and comparator first. See procedure Removing a Base Radio from the List for an MLC 8000 Analog Comparator. If, however, you want to remove the MLC 8000 Analog Comparator because the device is corrupted and the configuration tool cannot communicate with it (an icon with a white background is displayed), the option Update Analog Comparator BR List is grayed out. Right-click on each AGU port of that comparator and select Remove from Voter. After this operation has been performed on all ports of the comparator, right-click on the comparator and remove it from the channel cluster. You can then add a replacement device. For more information, see the disaster recovery section of the MLC 8000 Comparator Feature Guide.
When and where to use:
Use this procedure to remove an MLC 8000 Analog Comparator from the channel cluster tree.Procedure:
- Right-click on the MLC 8000 Analog Comparator (VGU) you want to remove in the channel cluster tree on the MLC 8000 Configuration tool main screen. Select Remove Device.
A dialog box appears asking whether you want to remove the MLC 8000 Analog Comparator.ImportantIf you receive a message instead saying that the MLC 8000 Analog Comparator cannot be removed because there are base radios assigned, remove the base radios associated with the MLC 8000 Analog Comparator first and then repeat step 1. See procedure Removing a Base Radio from the List for an MLC 8000 Analog Comparator.
- Click Yes.
The system deletes the MLC 8000 Analog Comparator.
