Performing a Software Update to all MLC 8000 Devices of a Channel Cluster

Prerequisites:

The MLC 8000 Configuration Tool is operational. See procedure Opening the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool.

When and where to use:

Procedure:

1. Open the channel cluster for which you want to update all MLC 8000 devices with new software. See procedure Opening a Conventional Channel Cluster.
2. Download the software to all channel cluster devices at once, follow procedure Downloading a Specific Software Update to MLC 8000 Devices.
   WarningWhile software is being downloaded to a particular device, do not do any configuration work with the configuration tool until the download is completed.
3. After the software version has been downloaded to all devices in the channel cluster, start to activate the software update on all devices. Follow procedure Activating a Software Update on an MLC 8000 Device.
   ImportantStart activating all AGUs first and then after that activate the VGUs. When activating each device, there is no need to wait for the activation to complete. Issue the command to a device, and then continue with the next device.
   The activation causes a restart of all devices in the channel cluster. When the restart on each device has completed, the configuration tool shows each device as active. The channel cluster is now functional again.
