When and where to use:

Use this process to upgrade software on an MLC 8000 device or multiple MLC 8000 devices that are fresh installs using the MLC 8000 Configuration Tool. This process is used when some prestaging is performed before the completion of the installation and configuration at the customer site.

  2. Define a temporary channel cluster. See procedure Defining a Conventional Channel Cluster.
  3. Connect the PC to the new MLC 8000 device on which the IP address is being provisioned. See procedure Connecting to a New MLC 8000 Device External LAN.
  4. Upgrade software for the device. See procedure Updating Software on a New MLC 8000 Device.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each MLC 8000 device for which you want to upgrade the software.
  6. Optionally, delete the temporary channel cluster defined for upgrading software during the prestaging effort. See Deleting a Conventional Channel Cluster.
